As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced and driven Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager to take ownership of our day-to-night shift FSQA operations and help lead our team to the next level.
POSITION SUMMARY
The FSQA Manager is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the full ownership, execution, and continuous improvement of Fresco Foods' Food Safety Management System. Working an 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM schedule, this role provides critical bridge coverage across both the day and night shifts, ensuring seamless continuity of food safety and quality programs from mid-day through end of production. This individual will directly manage QA Technicians across both shifts, own FSQA processes and procedures from the ground up, and serve as the primary point of accountability for food safety compliance, regulatory adherence, and quality program integrity. The ideal candidate is ultra detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, and brings a proven track record in quality management with demonstrated experience under USDA, FDA, and SQF frameworks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (Including but not limited to)
Leadership & Team Management
Directly manage, schedule, and develop QA Technicians across both the day and night shifts.
Serve as the primary point of oversight and accountability for FSQA team performance across both shifts during the 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM coverage window.
Conduct employee orientations and deliver ongoing food safety and quality training to FSQA staff and production personnel.
Set clear performance expectations, provide coaching, and hold team members accountable to established standards.
Ensure effective shift-to-shift communication and handoff so that food safety coverage is never compromised.
Foster a strong, proactive food safety culture across all departments and both shifts.
Program Ownership & Compliance
Own, maintain, and continuously improve FSQA processes, SOPs, and procedures in accordance with SQF Code, HACCP/HARPC plans, GMPs, SSOPs, USDA, and FDA requirements.
Serve as the point of contact for all food safety and quality matters during the coverage window, escalating to senior leadership as appropriate.
Own and manage the Approved Supplier and Ingredient Program, including qualification, documentation, ongoing verification, and maintenance of supplier records.
Maintain and manage FSQA databases, registers, and recordkeeping systems to ensure accuracy, completeness, and audit readiness at all times.
Lead non-conformance identification, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventative action implementation.
Drive audit preparation and serve as a participant in internal, third-party, and regulatory audits including SQF.
Verification & Monitoring
Oversee and conduct CCP and CP verification activities per HACCP and HARPC plans.
Ensure pre-operational inspections, scale verifications, and sanitation checks are completed and documented across both shifts.
Oversee GMP inspections throughout production and take immediate corrective action when deviations are identified.
Direct ATP swabbing, environmental monitoring programs, and cooler/freezer temperature verification.
Oversee thermometer calibration, weight verification, and allergen control programs.
Manage glass & brittle plastic, pest control, and facility audit monitoring programs.
Oversee retain sample program and ensure proper chain of custody and documentation.
Verify sanitation effectiveness and drive accountability with the Sanitation team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or related field strongly preferred; equivalent experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
4–7 years of progressive food safety and quality experience in a food manufacturing environment required.
Minimum 2–3 years in a management or senior leadership role overseeing a quality team required.
Proven track record in quality management with demonstrated results in compliance, audit performance, and program development.
Direct experience working within USDA, FDA, and SQF regulatory frameworks required.
Experience managing teams across multiple shifts strongly preferred.
HACCP certification required.
PCQI certification preferred.
SQF Practitioner preferred.
Ultra detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and hold a team accountable across shifts.
Proficiency in maintaining databases, registers, and document control systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently, make sound decisions under pressure, and escalate appropriately.
Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and consistent attendance.

Salary: $60,000 – $80,000 per year, based on experience.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM; flexibility required for production needs (including occasional weekends, holidays, or extended shifts).
