As an Equipment Operator your primary responsibility is to complete tasks safely and accurately assigned by the Superintendent using construction equipment.
Typical Responsibilities

Operate GPS-equipped excavators to perform fine grading, excavation, trenching, and site preparation.

Read and follow site plans, grade stakes, and GPS machine control systems to achieve precise elevations and slopes.

Excavate, load, move, and place soil, rock, and other materials.

Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.

Report equipment issues and coordinate repairs with supervisors.

Work closely with foremen and ground crews to complete projects safely and efficiently.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and project specifications.
Qualifications
-
Previous experience operating excavators in heavy civil or site development projects.

Experience using GPS machine control systems (such as Trimble, Topcon, or Leica) is strongly preferred.

Ability to read construction plans, grade stakes, and project specifications.

Strong understanding of excavation, grading, and drainage practices.

Valid driver's license (CDL may be preferred depending on the employer).

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding work.
