Role Overview
- Title: Editorial Copywriter & Script Producer
- Type: Freelance / Contract — 3-Month Paid Trial
- Trial period: Approximately 50 hours per month
- Post-trial (if suitable): 100 hours per month (approx. 25 hours per week)
- Location: Primarily remote — must be able to commute to the NYC office once per month
- Time Zone: Must be available on US EST (Eastern Standard Time)
Suitability for the role will be formally assessed at the end of the three-month trial period. Candidates who demonstrate the skills, reliability, and culture fit outlined below will be invited to increase their engagement to a part-time ongoing basis.
ResponsibilitiesScript Writing
◦ Cleaning up raw interviews for clarity and flow
◦ Fact-checking, spell-checking, and uploading transcripts
◦ Striking through unnecessary content
◦ Adding creative pick-ups for the host to record later
◦ Suggesting transitions for the Post-Production team
Writing Show Notes
◦ Understanding what format the client wants and adhering to it
◦ Coming up with catchy, audience-appropriate titles
◦ Writing engaging, thoughtful copy
◦ Pulling accurate timestamps
◦ Sourcing and linking resources for guests and anything relevant that listeners/viewers might look for
◦ Providing relevant keywords for SEO and discoverability
Writing Trailers
◦ Following the GM trailer format: Hook > Emotional Story > Cliffhanger
◦ Selecting the best content by listening to full episodes
◦ Suggesting transitions for the Post-Production team
◦ Double-checking spelling and accuracy for subtitles
Selecting Reels & Quotes
◦ Pulling the most interesting, jaw-dropping, shareable content that compels viewers to re-post and tune in
◦ Using accurate timestamps and counting seconds for each clip to match client length requirements
◦ Understanding how content will be used and on which platform, applying best practices accordingly
Client & Team Communication
◦ Sending assets to clients as required
◦ Assessing, suggesting, and making edits per client requests
◦ Informing the relevant team member when your task is complete
◦ Marking tasks complete in Asana when done
◦ Using Slack for team communication
ExpectationsClear Communication
◦ Reach out to team members via Slack for general questions and immediate needs
◦ Tag people in Asana for task-related communications

◦ If you see a problem, take action to solve it — or reach out to your team lead for context

Availability & Responsiveness
◦ Clearly communicate your daily/weekly availability in your Asana profile
◦ Update your status in Slack if you're away during your set working hours
Attention to Detail
◦ Use AI, but remember: nothing is ready for the client until human eyes have reviewed it. This is especially true for timestamps. Accuracy is professionalism.
◦ Always check for spelling — Grammarly is a great resource.
◦ Fact-check: Run transcripts (especially technical, political, or travel-related content) through our Claude Fact-checker & Proofing command.
Complete Tasks on Time
◦ If you're missing a resource, reach out to the relevant person and get an ETA
◦ If a task will be delayed, explain in the task comments — move the task rather than letting it sit in the red
◦ Check in with Erin or Ash if you're unsure how to proceed

◦ If you've had a long day or too much on your plate, let us know — we'd rather hear that than receive rushed work
Attend Regular Meetings
◦ Monthly editorial meetings
◦ Bi-weekly GM Team Meetings
