Amphitheater of the Redwoods at Pema Osel Ling offers 3-day destination weddings in the Santa Cruz Mountains. This position is perfect for someone who loves bringing joy to others and will be moved by the beautiful moments that shine though at each wedding. Your work will help to create a magical day for couples and their loved ones as they connect with our special land.
We will train the right person if you have had some event planning and/or catering experience. This is a wonderful opportunity to explore a rewarding career.
The position is part time to start (16 - 24 hours depending on your availability), moving to full time in 2027. On-site Saturdays and occasional Friday evenings or Sundays (approximately 36 weekends a year). Flexible remote hours during the week and during non-wedding periods.
Pema Osel Ling is run by the Vajrayana Foundation, whose mission is to foster the Buddhist ideals of peace and compassion and to preserve Tibetan art and culture while connecting people with our sacred land.
Requirements:
- Experience with Event Planning and/or Catering
- Ability to manage multiple moving parts and complex schedules simultaneously
- A calm demeanor to handle last-minute challenges
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Attention to detail and a high level of organizational skill
- Experience with Word, Excel and Google Docs
- Have your own laptop
- Ability to lift 30 lbs
- Comfortable walking on hilly terrain
Training will include:
- Creating a timeline for couple’s wedding weekend
- Communicating with couples throughout the planning process
- Working with our chef and couples on menus and supervising catering set-up
- Serving as the contact for vendors to confirm arrival times and setup requirements.
- Leading the ceremony rehearsal the day before the wedding
- Helping to manage the timeline of events for the wedding ceremony and reception
