Registered Nurse – Case Manager | Travel Contract
Location: Torrance, CA 90503
Contract: 13 Weeks | Start Date: September 14, 2026
Shift: Days, 5×8 Hours | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Weekend: Every Other Weekend + Holiday Availability Required
Weekly Pay: $2400 - $2800 (DOE)
Job Duties:
- Provide acute care case management and discharge planning for a diverse patient population.
- Perform care coordination, patient assessments, admission reviews, and utilization review.
- Apply InterQual criteria and evidence-based guidelines to determine medical necessity.
- Coordinate discharge needs, including DME, SNF placement, ambulance transportation, and other services.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, therapists, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Participate in family meetings and treatment-plan development.
- Support patients with complex social and medical needs, including homelessness, mental health concerns, foster/adoption needs, and advance directives.
- Manage weekend coverage, including discharge planning across up to two units.
Requirements:
- Active California RN license required by start date; pending license may be accepted at submission.
- 2+ years of acute care case management/discharge planning experience required.
- Acute hospital experience required; behavioral health-only experience does not meet the requirement.
- Experience with care coordination and admission reviews.
- Strong knowledge of Medicare guidelines and healthcare payer processes.
- InterQual experience highly preferred.
- Epic experience required.
- Previous travel experience preferred; first-time travelers may be considered after screening.
- Must be available to work every other weekend and required holidays.
- Up to 7 days of RTO allowed; all RTO/scheduling requests must be submitted upfront.
Assignment Details:
- 13-week travel assignment at a leading acute care hospital in Torrance, California.
- Day shift with a consistent 5×8 schedule.
- Gain valuable acute care case management and utilization review experience.
- First-time travelers may be considered with appropriate experience and screening.
Pay: $2,400.00 - $2,800.00 per week
