Programs Served
- Early Head Start: Supporting infants as young as 6 weeks through toddler-aged children
- Head Start & Pre-K Counts: Supporting children ages 3–5
General Summary
GHR is seeking caring and dependable Paraprofessionals to provide individualized support to students with special needs in an inclusive classroom environment. Working alongside certified teachers and school teams, this role helps students grow academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally while encouraging independence, confidence, and a positive learning experience.
Early Intervention Services
Early Intervention supports young children who may have developmental delays or disabilities by providing evaluations and services in areas such as:
- Adaptive skills, including self-care and daily living activities
- Cognitive development, including learning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Communication skills, including understanding and expressing language
- Physical development, including movement and coordination
- Social-emotional development, including relationships, behavior, and emotional regulation
Basic Function / Role Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with special needs within an inclusive classroom setting
- Partner with teachers, administrators, and support staff to help create a safe and effective learning environment
- Assist students with daily care needs, including toileting, diapering, changing, and mobility support as needed
- Support students with behavioral, emotional, and sensory needs through structured interventions and de-escalation techniques
- Encourage student independence while promoting safety, dignity, and overall well-being
- Assist in developing academic, social, and functional skills based on individual student needs
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain reliable attendance and arrive prepared for scheduled assignments
- Follow classroom routines, student schedules, and daily expectations while adapting to changes when needed
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce instruction provided by the classroom teacher
- Support students with a variety of needs, including developmental, physical, emotional, behavioral, and learning differences, as well as students with 504 Plans
- Assist teachers with implementing Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and classroom accommodations
- Provide support for students requiring PCA-level assistance, including personal care, lifting, toileting, changing, and behavioral support
- Assist with classroom activities such as transitions, snack time, organization, and student routines
- Prepare and organize classroom materials, supplies, and instructional resources
- Provide classroom support and assistance for substitute teachers when needed
- Build positive relationships with students, families, teachers, administrators, and school staff
- Participate in district training, professional development, and learning opportunities
- Demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, patience, and a willingness to support students wherever needed
