Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Receivable Specialist to support our growing Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Durable Medical Equipment (DME) practice. This role is responsible for managing insurance and patient receivables, ensuring timely claim follow-up, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Key Responsibilities
- Submit, monitor, and follow up on insurance claims.
- Resolve claim denials, rejections, and payment discrepancies.
- Post insurance and patient payments accurately.
- Reconcile accounts and maintain aging reports.
- Communicate with insurance carriers, patients, and referral sources regarding billing and payment issues.
- Verify benefits and coverage as needed.
- Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer, and HIPAA requirements.
- Assist with month-end reporting and other revenue cycle activities.
- Review and process medical claims related to durable medical equipment using coding standards such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by conducting thorough medical collections efforts, including contacting insurance companies and patients as needed.
- Analyze accounts receivable aging reports regularly to identify outstanding balances and prioritize collection efforts.
Qualifications
- Experience in Accounts Receivable, medical billing, or healthcare revenue cycle management.
- Knowledge of Orthotics & Prosthetics and/or DME billing preferred.
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance claims.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Proficiency with billing software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with insurance providers, patients, and internal teams to resolve billing issues promptly.
