American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with at least 2 years of OR experience and Level I trauma background for a 13-week assignment at an academic, Magnet-designated hospital in Charleston, SC.

21-suite Main OR within a Level I academic trauma center covering all major surgical specialties
-
Common case types include Ortho (total joints, spine, trauma), Neuro (craniotomy, spine), ENT (flaps), Robotics, Transplants/Procurements, Trauma/Burns, and GU/GYN
-
Shift is 3x12-hour days, 10:30 AM–11:00 PM, with rotating holiday coverage

Rotating weekend requirement; up to 2 on-call shifts (7a–7p or 7p–7a, Saturday or Sunday) per month

Floating within scope to other like units or sister facilities may be required to meet facility needs

Charting is done in Epic

Scrubs are provided by the facility

Minimum 2 years of OR scrub experience required

Level I trauma center experience required

NBSTSA CST credential required — NCCT certification is not accepted

BLS certification required (AHA only)

Radiation badge required and must be provided by the agency

Experience with Neuro (spine/craniotomy), ENT (flaps), and Robotics (Da Vinci Xi) cases is highly preferred

SC license required if applicable

Driver's license required for consideration

SSN required for consideration

Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

First-time travelers are accepted for this position

Candidates who have previously worked as permanent staff or PRN at any facility within this health system must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler

Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) are accepted and considered on a case-by-case basis; non-local candidates are prioritized

All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration; approval is based on facility needs

Required orientation modules are completed prior to the start date

Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties; peak activity months are August and September
-
The OR team consists of approximately 75% RNs and 25% CSTs; RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate

This is a Magnet-designated, academic teaching facility
