Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Shop Foreman specializing in Steel Fabrication to lead our manufacturing team with energy and precision. Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all shop fabrication activities, ensuring timely completion of projects while maintaining high quality standards.
- Oversee the use of power tools, hand tools, plasma cutting equipment, press brake machines, and other fabrication machinery to produce precise steel components.
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide fabrication processes according to project specifications.
- Ensure all welding operations—including MIG, FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), welding, —adhere to AISC codes & standards and safety protocols.
- Manage material inventory, and other fabrication components.
- Enforce safety procedures related to rigging, forklift handling, machining, and use of power tools to maintain a safe work environment.
- Conduct quality inspections using measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances meet project requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure specifications are met and communicate progress regularly.
Requirements
- Proven experience in manufacturing facilities specializing in steel fabrication.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, and technical drawings related to structural steel projects.
- Skilled in welding techniques including FCAW, SMAW welding; certification preferred.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, welders, and machining equipment.
- Familiarity with AISC codes & standards governing steel fabrication practices.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations essential for precise fabrication tasks.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise a team effectively while maintaining a focus on safety and quality standards.
