immigration law firm that seeks Two Immigration Legal Assistants.
Responsibilities include:
- extensive client communication, including, but not limited to, answering the telephones and confirming appointments;
- preparation of family-based petitions, asylum applications, naturalization applications, and other immigration petitions and applications;
- preparation of evidentiary submissions during deportation (removal) cases, such as exhibit lists;
- the preparation of client declarations;
- interpreting for clients during United States Citizenship and Immigration Service interviews;
- translating Chinese documents into English;
- Monitor and ensure compliance with immigration court requirements.
- Record and store client information
- Multitask, including reception, assist with client intakes, office administration duties
Candidates also must:
- be fluent in English and Mandarin (additional fluency in Cantonese is preferable); and,
- have a commitment to serving the immigrant community.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to excel in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent time management skills in handling multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team, including personnel in other law firms
- Professionalism in interactions with clients, attorneys, staff, and others
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft products (such as Word, Outlook, and Excel)
- Strong project management skills
Compensation:
- Compensation range based on experience: $54,000 - $80000 per year ;
- Health Insurance (Employer Pays for Employees Preferred Health Plan); and,
- Paid time off and paid holidays.
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
