Short Hills Surgery Center, located in Millburn, N.J. is seeking a OR Control Desk Coordinator to join our exceptional healthcare team. SHSC is a fast-paced, AAAHC-Certified state of the art facility. Our multi-specialty same-day surgery center has all the accreditations of a traditional hospital, but we set a higher standard for physician and nursing care. The result: our high patient satisfaction scores and low infection rates. Our 25,000-square-foot facility features six major operating rooms, two minor surgery rooms, and 24 recovery beds, including four private rooms, all within an upscale, comfortable atmosphere.
Ambulatory surgery experience is preferred. Hours of operation are 6:00am to 6:00pm Monday – Friday.
Essential functions include:
- Answers telephones, ensuring proper etiquette by displaying promptness, courtesy, and helpfulness.
- Attends daily scheduling meeting and assists with identifying potential conflicts
- Communicates relevant information regarding patients to the appropriate personnel while maintaining confidentiality.
- Ensures receipt of accurate messages involving staff, physician or surgical schedule information. Relays information promptly to the OR Manager or designated charge nurse, while using good judgment.
- Communicate with reception area, Pre-Op, surgeon, and Anesthesia of any schedule changes or delays in a timely manner.
- Communicate case schedules with vendor representatives and confirm all needed loaner instruments/equipment are available for cases in conjunction with OR Manager and Assistant Manager
- Prints OR schedules for the current day and distributes them appropriately
- Prints preference cards/billing sheets for subsequent day
- Coordinates patient flow from Pre-op to OR
- Assists with facilitating timeliness of daily surgical schedule by continually monitoring OR schedule throughout the day; including arrival of patients, to ensure efficient flow of all cases.
- Maintains the accuracy of the Preference Cards and makes the necessary changes, works with Materials Management regarding accuracy and case costing of cards
- Provides support between supply chain/materials management, vendors and OR, including providing consignment and bill only forms from previous day surgeries.
- Maintains OR logs and registries
- Specimen Management-monitors specimen supplies and reorders as needed;
- Assists with clerical/secretarial functions as necessary
- Performs additional duties, including providing support to other departments, as assigned by management.
- Completes annual mandatory educational programs, attends facility in-services.
Qualifications:
1. High school graduate
2. Able to read, write and communicate effectively
3. Computer skills and familiarity with basic computer operations/programs
4. Able to maintain and comply with patient confidentiality and integrity policy at all times
5. Previous experience in a clerical setting
6. BLS certification within 3 months of hire
