- Nursing assistant course desirable
- Performs personal care according to individuals’ needs including bathing, perineal care, shaving, grooming hair, mouth/oral care as condition warrants, and as directed, feeding patient and collecting specimens
- Keeps patient room neat and tidy at all times, patient dry and free of secretions, and answers call lights promptly
- Performs procedures designed to prevent physical deterioration of skin to include patient repositioning, giving skin care, getting patients out of bed, ambulating as directed, working gently and handling patients with special conditions in a specified manner and performing catheter care as directed
- Provides age appropriate care
- Takes and records vital signs, glucometer readings, weight, and length measurements
- Assist physicians and licensed staff with preparing patient’s for various types of examinations and procedures
- Applies or changes dressings as requested
- Performs basic life support skills in an emergency
- Follows aseptic procedures and universal precautions when involved in direct patient contact or handling potentially infectious materials
- Assists physician and licensed staff with patient care

- Performs proper body substance isolation when handling potentially infectious materials or direct contact

- Attends shift report and makes notes of facts that are important to nursing care
- Assists in the interfacility transportation of patients
- Prior to examination, obtains subjective information related to patient’s perception of health
- Collects necessary information received concerning x-ray and laboratory reports, data from referring physicians, and surgical or other procedure reports for patient’s files
- Ensures that inventory of necessary supplies and equipment is maintained for diagnostic and treatment procedures
- Is responsible for stocking supplies in patients rooms and assures the cleanliness of the rooms
- Cleans and prepares surgical instruments for sterilization
- Documents vital signs, intake and output, and appropriate portion of admission history as directed
- Care for client’s (neonate <1yr, child/pediatric 1-11yrs, adolescent 12-17yrs, adult 18-55yrs, and geriatric >55yrs) throughout the facility while communicating positively and respectfully
- Performs required tasks without prompting and adjusts appropriately to situations
