Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring according to recipes and menu specifications
- Assist with cooking and food assembly, ensuring dishes meet quality standards and presentation guidelines
- Support kitchen staff with food handling, portioning, and plating to maintain efficiency during busy service times
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering strictly to food safety and sanitation protocols
- Assist in menu planning by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation methods
- Handle food products safely, following proper storage procedures and temperature controls
- Support catering events and special meal preparations as needed to ensure timely delivery of quality food
Requirements
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Kitchen experience in restaurants or food industry settings demonstrating familiarity with food handling and preparation techniques
- Knowledge of food safety standards, including proper sanitation practices and HACCP guidelines
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in meal preparation and cooking methods
- Experience with menu planning, food service, catering, and serving is a plus
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude toward supporting culinary operations
