The Tax Manager will lead trust tax compliance activities supporting our Delaware corporate trustee operations. This role is responsible for the preparation and oversight of trust federal, state, and local tax returns, while serving as a trusted resource to Trust Officers, Wealth Advisors, Portfolio Managers, clients, and other tax professionals. This role operates with a high degree of independence and collaboration, requiring sound judgment, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to make informed decisions related to tax compliance, operational processes, and client service. The Tax Manager will partner closely with business leaders and stakeholders while helping shape the future direction of the Delaware Trust Tax Services function.
This position offers a unique opportunity to lead a newly established Delaware Trust Tax Services team and play a key role in transitioning tax preparation and compliance services from outsourced providers to an in-house model. During the initial years, the successful candidate will help establish processes, enhance operational efficiencies, and implement technology solutions to support a scalable and best-in-class trust tax function.
Job Responsibilities:

Apply federal, state, and local tax laws to ensure all tax compliance and filing requirements are timely completed for assigned clients, which will primarily be the Bryn Mawr Trust Company of Delaware, a limited purpose trust company established in Delaware.

Manage relationships with Trust Officers and Financial Advisors.

Lead and manage the Delaware Trust Tax Services team.

Respond to and resolve notices received from federal, state, and local taxing authorities.

Stay current with tax law changes and their application to assigned accounts.

Experience working with a Corporate Trustee, Trust Company, Wealth Management firm, or related fiduciary environment.

Experience leading tax operations, process improvements, and team development initiatives.

Provide coaching, guidance, and technical expertise to team members.

Oversee workload planning, prioritization, and quality control to ensure service excellence and compliance standards are achieved.

Perform additional responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

Minimum of 10 years of relevant tax experience.

Professional tax credential such as CPA, EA, or JD.

Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.

Ability to interpret and apply IRS code requirements to account transactions.

Excellent technology skills with the ability to operate effectively across multiple systems and platforms.

Demonstrated ability to build relationships, collaborate across teams, and effectively manage stakeholder interactions.

Salary Range:
$92,869.00 - $152,569.00
Individual base pay may vary on additional factors such as the candidate’s experience, job-related skills, relevant education, geographic location, and other specific business and organizational needs.
