POSITION: Health Room Professional (LPN Required)
SALARY: PSE Salary Schedule, Line 24-2 with additional .85 cents for AA, $1.00 for BA and $1.50 for MA or above with receipt of Official Transcript
JOB DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision of the building principal and the supervision of the District Nurse, the School Health Room Professional will perform assigned duties including, but not limited to, clerical and record keeping tasks, typing correspondence, organizing and implementing health screenings, ordering and maintaining health room supplies, coordinating volunteers, administering medications, providing temporary care for ill or injured students, and general management of the health room. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: LPN or RN license preferred; current CPR; willing to attend additional diabetic training; effective organizational and time management skills; effective interpersonal communications skills; experience with general office procedures; willing to be trained to perform special procedures on special needs students; must have no lifting restrictions; must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
REPRESENTATIVE JOB DUTIES:
1. Provide professional assistance in carrying out a coordinated program of temporary care for the ill or injured student, including adequate parent/guardian notification.
2. Identify students in assigned school who have health problems. Submit names and a brief description of the health problems to the building principal and school nurse.
3. Maintain a neat and orderly health room. Order health room supplies.
4. Organize and implement vision, hearing, and scoliosis/kyphosis screenings as required by WAC and district policy.
5. Process immunization information and update records as needed. Notify parents of deficiencies. Maintain list of students inadequately immunized.
6. Record information on health cards and maintain other health data as required by district policies and procedures.
7. Administer medications according to district policy and WAC.
8. Screen students for communicable diseases/conditions (head lice, chicken pox, etc.).
9. Maintain health room log. Record accident reports.
10. Report possible/suspected child abuse or neglect to building principal and school nurse.
11. Temporary duties as assigned.

Then continue to the Disclosure, Interests, Preferences and Confidential Data pages. When this is complete, you will move to the My Checklist tab.
4. Employees are NOT REQUIRED to complete the My Checklist items but we do strongly encourage you to do so as frequently the information in your personnel file is out of date.
5. To view openings and apply for jobs, click Job Openings in the main menu.

As you do, a green check will appear on the item to indicate it is complete. When all items are completed, your application status will change to complete.
