Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic, passionate and self motivated head cook or chef, to help grow our new dinner service as we expand. In this role you will cook and execute all existing dinner menu items during service. You will work with our creative team to help create new menu items that align with the Hold the Wheat vision. You will communicate needs and ideas to the kitchen manager and operations manager. This role is primarily hands on cooking, there are minimal administrative requirements. Starting hours for this job will typically be between 2pm and 9pm Tuesday-Saturday.
Duties
- Prepare all dinner items.
- Operate fryers, induction burners and ovens
- Ensure all food handling procedures comply with food safety regulations and best practices.
- Coordinate food production to meet customer demand while minimizing waste.
- Maintain inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, communicate needs to kitchen manager
- Train team members as needed on culinary techniques, knife skills, and proper food preparation and storage.
- Work with team to create and test new menu items.
- Implement quality control measures to uphold product consistency and excellence.
- Support catering events and special orders by preparing savory meals with precision.
- Foster a positive environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Culinary degree strongly preferred but may be substituted with experience.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures.
- Food safety certification or willingness to obtain quickly.
- Good knife skills and experience with commercial kitchen equipment.
- Minimum of 2 years professional cooking
- Exceptional communication skills to engage with staff and managers to support sales initiatives.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to stay calm and focused in a busy and changing environment.
