Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced HDD Operator to join our underground fiber optic construction team. The ideal candidate has experience operating Vermeer, Ditch Witch, or similar horizontal directional drilling equipment and understands underground utility construction and safety practices.
Responsibilities
- Operate HDD equipment for pilot bores, reaming, and fiber optic cable pullbacks.
- Adjust drilling techniques based on soil conditions, obstructions, and site conditions.
- Work closely with the HDD Locator to maintain proper depth, alignment, and utility clearance.
- Monitor drilling fluids and maintain bore integrity.
- Perform daily equipment inspections, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
- Follow all company, OSHA, and applicable construction safety procedures.
- Identify and work safely around existing underground utilities.
- Complete bore logs, daily production reports, and field documentation.
- Communicate jobsite progress, issues, and equipment needs to supervision.
Qualifications
- Previous HDD, utility construction, excavation, or heavy equipment experience.
- Experience operating Vermeer, Ditch Witch, or similar HDD rigs preferred.
- Knowledge of underground utility locating and damage prevention practices.
- Experience with excavators, loaders, backhoes, or other construction equipment is a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and construction conditions.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
