A fast-growing family-owned small business is looking for an additional warehouse/production worker with experience in a fast-paced warehouse/production environment. The ideal candidate will have forklift experience and be consistently; safety conscious, detail-oriented, friendly, and energetic. Our chemical operator/warehouse employees play an integral part in delivering outstanding customer service. They ensure products are available for delivery to our customers when requested.
The Production Supervisor oversees daily operations within our chemical distribution facility. This role ensures that all blending, packaging, drumming, and blending tasks are executed safely, efficiently, and in strict compliance with quality and environmental regulations. You will lead a team of chemical operators, manage production schedules, and drive continuous improvement on the warehouse floor.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations & Scheduling Management
- Supervise daily production activities, including chemical blending, repackaging, drumming, and labeling.
- Coordinate production runs based on sales demands and inventory levels to maximize throughput.
2. Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Compliance
- Enforce strict adherence to OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations, ensuring correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Lead daily tool-box safety meetings, conduct routine safety audits, and participate in incident investigations.
- Oversee safe chemical handling practices, spill prevention protocols, and hazardous waste management.
3. Quality Assurance & Control
- Ensure all finished products strictly match quality specifications and batch record formulations.
- Manage correct labeling and tracking in compliance with GHS (Globally Harmonized System) standards.
- Partner with Quality Control to troubleshoot batch variances or out-of-specification (OOS) materials.
4. Team Leadership & Development
- Manage, train, and mentor a team of Chemical Operators and material handlers.
- Address personnel issues and manage shift scheduling/overtime.
- Cross-train staff to ensure flexibility across different blending and packaging lines.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Supply Chain is a major plus.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience in a chemical manufacturing, blending, or distribution facility.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong familiarity with OSHA safety guidelines, GHS labeling, and hazardous material handling rules.
- Technical Skills: Experience operating forklift equipment; familiarity with ERP software (like SAP or NetSuite) for inventory tracking.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work comfortably on your feet in a warehouse environment that requires wearing respirators or specialized PPE when necessary.
Ideal Candidate Profile: We are looking for someone who doesn't just manage from an office, but is actively present on the floor aiding in production. The ideal candidate balances a strong safety mindset with the operational urgency required to hit distribution deadlines.
Hours are negotiable. Some weekend overtime opportunities are available depending on the week.
