About the Role
We are looking for a true hybrid Controls Engineer. You will take full project ownership over both the electrical hardware design and the software programming/commissioning. The big focus here is on Siemens programming and industrial robotics integration. You'll be working closely with Program Managers to turn initial concepts into finalized, high-performing automated lines, then leading the physical debugging, startup, and commissioning on the shop floor and at customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Heavy Software & Robotics (The Core Focus): Write programmable logic controller (PLC) logic and build HMIs using Siemens TIA Portal. You will also commission industrial robots (FANUC, ABB, or Kuka), program their paths, and implement crucial safety setups like Fanuc DCS, ABB SafeMove, or Kuka Safe.
- Electrical Hardware Design: Generate detailed electrical schematics, select/size hardware components, build Bills of Materials (BOMs), and handle control panel layouts and heat calculation analyses.
- Fluid Power & Networks: Handle pneumatic system sizing/plumbing, develop system hardware architectures, and design industrial network layouts (Ethernet/IP, PROFINET).
- Commissioning & Integration: Integrate auxiliary equipment like laser markers, parts washers, and comparators, and interface with machine tools for advanced machine-tending applications.
- Compliance & Support: Keep everything compliant with OSHA safety standards, build system manuals, and provide technical documentation and training to the end customers.
Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is great, but we highly value solid, hands-on field experience.
- The Tools: 5+ years of dedicated industrial hardware design experience, specifically using EPLAN P8 or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Proven hands-on programming experience with Siemens TIA Portal (Rockwell Allen Bradley or Mitsubishi is a plus, but Siemens is highly preferred).
- Direct experience programming paths and safety zones for FANUC, ABB, or Kuka robots. Experience running simulations (RoboGuide, RobotStudio, Kuka Sim) is a major bonus.
- Communication: Strong English communication skills—you’ll be working with internal engineering teams and interfacing directly with clients on-site.
