Director – Milestones Childcare & Preschool

Milestones Childcare & Preschool is looking for an experienced, energetic, and caring Director to lead our Salisbury location!
We are looking for someone who truly loves early childhood education and is excited to lead a team, build relationships with families, and help our school continue to grow. Our ideal Director is organized, dependable, approachable, and confident in their leadership while also being willing to jump in and support the team wherever needed.
At Milestones, we believe a strong childcare center starts with a strong team. We are looking for a Director who can create a positive, supportive, and accountable environment where teachers feel valued, families feel welcomed, and children receive exceptional care.
Key Responsibilities
As the Director of our Salisbury location, you will oversee the overall operation of the center, including:
- Leading and supporting teachers and staff on a daily basis
- Creating a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment
- Overseeing daily center operations and classroom coverage
- Maintaining compliance with all Massachusetts EEC regulations and licensing requirements
- Ensuring health, safety, sanitation, and security procedures are consistently followed
- Maintaining appropriate staff-to-child ratios throughout the day
- Recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, and retaining qualified staff
- Providing ongoing coaching, feedback, evaluations, and professional development
- Managing staff schedules, attendance, PTO, and classroom assignments
- Supporting teachers with classroom management, curriculum, lesson planning, and child assessments
- Maintaining accurate staff and student records
- Building strong, professional relationships with families
- Conducting tours and welcoming prospective families
- Supporting enrollment goals and helping maintain strong classroom enrollment
- Processing new enrollments and ensuring required documentation is complete
- Planning school events, family activities, staff meetings, and community involvement
- Maintaining school and office supplies
- Ensuring the building and classrooms are clean, organized, welcoming, and well maintained
- Communicating regularly with Milestones ownership and administration regarding staffing, enrollment, center needs, and overall operations
- Stepping into classrooms and assisting staff when needed
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Massachusetts EEC Director Certification – Required
- Previous leadership experience in a licensed childcare or early education setting
- Strong knowledge of Massachusetts EEC regulations and licensing requirements
- A genuine passion for working with children, families, and early childhood educators
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- The ability to handle multiple priorities in a busy childcare environment
- Confidence addressing staff concerns and providing constructive feedback
- A professional, dependable, positive, and approachable leadership style
- The ability to take initiative and problem-solve independently
- A willingness to be hands-on and support classrooms and staff when necessary
- Experience with enrollment, family communication, staffing, and center operations preferred
