CNC Fabrication Operator
Position Summary
The CNC Fabrication Operator is responsible for operating a variety of CNC and fabrication equipment to manufacture high-quality steel components according to engineering drawings and production schedules. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to read blueprints and measuring tools accurately, and a willingness to work as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, and able to think critically to solve production challenges.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC fabrication equipment, including tube lasers and flat lasers.
- Operate fabrication equipment including press brake, drill press, cold saw, band saw, pipe bender, and other shop machinery.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, work orders, and cut files.
- Accurately measure parts using tape measures (to 1/16"), calipers, and other measuring tools.
- Verify material type, thickness, and dimensions before processing.
- Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and dimensional tolerances.
- Deburr, grind, drill, tap, form, and prepare parts for the next stage of production.
- Load and unload materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, or other material handling equipment (training provided if necessary).
- Perform routine machine maintenance, daily inspections, and replace consumables as needed.
- Identify equipment issues, material defects, or process improvements and communicate them to supervisors.
- Maintain accurate production records and communicate job status with team members.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with company safety standards.
- Work closely with welding, fabrication, and assembly departments to meet production schedules.
- Assist with other manufacturing duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Manufacturing, fabrication, or machine operation experience preferred.
- Experience operating CNC equipment is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Ability to read tape measures accurately to 1/16".
- Experience using calipers is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Basic computer skills for operating machine controls and production software.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Frequently bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive motions.
- Regularly lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; heavier items may require team lifting or lifting equipment.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes (training provided if necessary).
- Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, gloves, and other required safety equipment.
