Estimated Annual Compensation: $72,000–$85,000+ Based on Performance
Streetside Classics is the Nation’s #1 Consignment Dealer...providing buyers and sellers with the confidence that comes from working with one of the country’s largest and most successful classic-car dealerships.
We are currently looking for a self-driven, organized, and energetic Inventory Consultant to join our Phoenix showroom team.
About the Position
The Inventory Consultant works closely with the Inventory Manager throughout the vehicle acquisition and intake process. Initially, the IC will receive coaching and support with vehicle evaluation, market research, consignor conversations, pricing, and expectation management. As experience and knowledge grow, the IC is expected to become increasingly self-sufficient while continuing to work collaboratively with the Inventory Manager.
This is an important, hands-on position for someone who enjoys classic cars, works well with people, stays organized, and wants to develop the knowledge and confidence necessary to independently evaluate and bring quality inventory into the showroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as a team with the Inventory Manager to maintain a steady flow of fresh, desirable, and properly priced inventory.
- Communicate directly with prospective consignors and guide them through the consignment process.
- Research comparable vehicles and work with the Inventory Manager to establish realistic pricing and net-to-owner expectations.
- Develop the knowledge and judgment necessary to independently evaluate vehicles, discuss pricing, and manage consignor expectations.
- Gather accurate vehicle information, including options, modifications, ownership history, documentation, and known mechanical or cosmetic concerns.
- Inspect and test-drive incoming vehicles to evaluate their condition, quality, and operability.
- Identify mechanical, cosmetic, title, VIN, or disclosure concerns before a vehicle is accepted.
- Help ensure vehicle descriptions, disclosures, and marketing information are complete and accurate.
- Organize incoming appointments at appropriate intervals and keep vehicles moving efficiently through the intake process.
- Maintain consistent follow-up with prospective and existing consignors.
- Document all activity, vehicle information, notes, and next steps in the company’s CRM and inventory-management systems.
- Develop new inventory opportunities through existing leads, referrals, outbound calls, local repair shops, dealerships, collectors, car clubs, and community relationships.
- Attend local car shows and automotive events to strengthen Streetside Classics’ presence in the Phoenix collector-car community.
- When a vehicle does not meet our acceptance standards, help direct the owner toward reputable local repair or service resources when appropriate.
- Coordinate with the Inventory Manager, photographers, detail staff, and other showroom employees to ensure each vehicle is prepared for marketing accurately and efficiently.
Qualifications
- Strong general automotive knowledge is required...classic and collector-car knowledge is strongly preferred.
- Willingness and ability to learn vehicle evaluation, market research, pricing, and consignor negotiation.
- Coachable and comfortable asking for assistance while developing the judgment needed to work independently.
- Self-starter who can execute quickly, manage priorities, and move confidently from one task to the next.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable speaking with vehicle owners, asking detailed questions, and professionally managing expectations.
- Organized and able to manage multiple prospects, appointments, vehicles, and follow-up responsibilities.
- Comfortable learning and consistently using CRM and inventory-management systems.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to drive a manual-transmission vehicle is preferred.
- Must be available to work Saturdays.
- Professional appearance, positive attitude, and outgoing demeanor.
- Automotive, dealership, appraisal, service-writing, or sales experience is preferred.
- Four-year college degree is preferred but not required.
Compensation and Benefits
- $60,000 base salary.
- Performance-based commissions and bonuses.
- Estimated annual compensation of $72,000–$85,000+.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance.
- 401(k) with company match.
- Life insurance.
- Supportive and professional work environment.
- Accessible, open-minded leadership.
- Opportunity for advancement as the company continues to grow.
- The chance to work every day with an outstanding selection of classic and collector vehicles.
