Job Summary
Eye Lab is looking for a friendly, reliable, and patient-focused Optician / Optometric Technician to join our team.
This is a part-time position with the opportunity to transition into a full-time role in 2027. This hybrid role combines clinical and optical responsibilities, supporting patients through their eye exam while helping them find eyewear that best suits their vision and lifestyle.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with selecting frames and lenses based on their prescription, lifestyle, and visual needs
- Adjust, repair, and dispense eyewear
- Perform pre-testing including auto-refraction, retinal imaging, OCT, visual fields, and other diagnostic testing
- Collect patient history and accurately document information within the EHR
- Assist with patient flow and support the doctor throughout the day
- Educate patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and care
- Manage contact lens inventory and orders
- Process insurance payments and assist with front desk duties as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical and optical environment
- Deliver an exceptional patient experience during every interaction
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in optometry or optical is required.
- Previous experience as an Optician, Optical Assistant, or Optometric Technician preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Optical sales experience is considered an asset.
- Experience using an EHR is an asset.
