Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival and assist with check-in procedures using patient management software and electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments while managing calendar updates efficiently
- Collect and verify patient information, insurance details, and medical history with accuracy and confidentiality
- Answer incoming calls promptly, address inquiries professionally, and direct calls to appropriate staff members
- Support medical administrative tasks such as data entry, document scanning, and maintaining organized patient files in compliance with health regulation policies
- Assist with billing processes by verifying insurance coverage and explaining payment options to patients
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with privacy laws and office policies
Skills
- Prior experience working in a medical or dental office environment is highly preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and communication purposes
- Strong knowledge of health regulation policies related to patient privacy and data security (e.g., HIPAA compliance)
- Experience supporting medical administrative functions including EMR/EHR management and medical terminology understanding
- Familiarity with patient management software systems and electronic health records (EHR) platforms
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly via phone and client interactions
- Ability to type quickly and accurately while maintaining attention to detail
- Knowledge of health insurance processes, billing procedures, and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Previous dental office experience is a plus for candidates interested in specialized healthcare settings
