About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented and experienced Innkeeper for Dogs & Cats to join our pet boarding team. This role is perfect for someone who truly loves animals and takes pride in providing a safe, calm, and enriching environment while pets are away from home. Our innkeepers treat every guest like family and ensure both pets and their owners feel confident and cared for. Must work some holidays and weekends.
Responsibilities:
- Safely handle and supervise dogs and cats during boarding stays
- Feed animals according to owner instructions and maintain fresh water
- Walk and exercise dogs regularly
- Monitor pets for health, behavior, or stress concerns
- Clean and sanitize kennels, litter boxes, bedding, and common areas
- Communicate with staff about animal care needs and observations
- Help maintain a calm, organized environment for all boarding pets
- Assist with laundry, dishwashing, and general facility upkeep
Requirements:
- Prior dog handling experience is required
- Comfortable working with dogs of various breeds, sizes, and temperaments
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and remain active throughout shifts
- Dependable, attentive, and patient with animals
- Ability to work independently and follow care instructions carefully
- Weekend and holiday availability may be required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a kennel, boarding facility, veterinary clinic, or animal shelter
- Local to Crawfordsville
