Under general administrative direction, plans, organizes, and coordinates the County Emergency Preparedness Program and performs related duties. An employee in this class serves as a technical expert on all matters concerning hazardous materials incidents. Employee assists in preparing an emergency management plan for the county, which outlines the procedures to be followed in a natural or man-made disaster. Work also involves conducting industrial training programs.
High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's degree or further education preferred. Must have thorough knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws and regulations about emergency management and SARA - Title III. Prior experience working with emergency preparedness plans and supporting other agencies and departments in preparation of annexes to the basic plan. Must have basic to intermediate functional knowledge of computers.
License/Credentials: Possession of a valid NC driver's license. NC Fire Commission Certified Haz-Mat certification (Operational Level) required.
