KC’s Mobile Repair is seeking a motivated Automotive Technician Apprentice to learn hands-on diagnostics and repair in a mobile service environment. Under the guidance of experienced technicians, you’ll assist with inspections, maintenance, and repairs, while building skills in safety, customer communication, and road-ready service. Ideal for candidates pursuing ASE certification and looking to grow into a full Automotive Technician role.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with vehicle inspections, basic diagnostics, and multi-point checklists
- Perform routine maintenance (oil and filter changes, tire rotations, battery tests, wiper/lighting replacements, fluid checks)
- Support brake, suspension, belt, and cooling system services under supervision
- Set up and break down mobile workspace safely (cones, mats, jack stands), ensuring site cleanliness
- Operate OBD-II scanners and follow diagnostic flowcharts with guidance
- Document findings, parts used, and labor times in work orders; capture photos as needed
- Communicate professionally with customers on-site; provide status updates to lead tech/dispatcher
- Maintain tools, inventory, and the service vehicle; follow all safety and environmental procedures
- Participate in training, shadow senior techs, and complete assigned learning modules
What You’ll Learn
- Foundational diagnostics, electrical testing, and scan-tool basics
- Service procedures following OEM data (e.g., ALLDATA/Mitchell) and torque specs
- Mobile safety protocols, customer interaction, and field problem-solving
- Prep for ASE A1–A8 entry-level exams; path to State safety/emissions testing (where applicable)
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; current enrollment or recent completion of an auto tech program preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools and shop safety
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, kneel/stand for extended periods, and work outdoors in varying weather
- Reliable, punctual, with strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Able to follow instructions, ask questions, and document work clearly
Work Environment
- Field-based, customer driveways/worksites; exposure to heat, cold, and light precipitation
- Occasional weekend/evening/on-call rotation
- Safety-first culture: PPE, wheel chocks, jack stands, spill control, and battery handling required
