JOB
The Maintenance Worker performs semi-skilled manual labor work. Work is performed under general supervision of an employee of a higher classification.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Performs light and heavy manual laboring tasks in a wide variety of construction and maintenance work throughout the County.

Trims foliage; clears brush and cuts and edges grass and weeds with hand tools and power operated machine; seeds, hoes cultivates and gives general care to lawns and grounds; and removes dirt, rubbish, weeds, leaves, and other refuse from grounds.

Assists craft workers in a variety of unskilled tasks; and mixes concrete with shovel, using prescribed amounts of sand, cement, and water.

Assists equipment operators in routine maintenance of equipment.

Clears ditches with bush cutter; and digs ditches and shovels; builds retaining walls, places sandbags, and performs related tasks.

Creates, cuts, lays out, and peels road signs.

Installs, removes and replaces new and old road signs; erects barricades; tacks down reflectors onto barricades; and assists in patching roads.

Installs rumple strips, stop bars, and thermos plastic arrows.

Operates heavy equipment on a trainee basis.

Loads and unloads heavy materials from trucks and vans; and moves or aids in moving heavy boxes or equipment and large and bulky objects.

Performs other related job duties as assigned.
