The Dishwasher is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment while maintaining the dish room in a clean and organized condition. This position supports daily food service operations and assists with other dietary duties as needed.
Typical weekday shifts vary, with rotating weekend shifts.
- Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, glassware, silverware, cookware, and kitchen utensils.
- Operate and maintain the dish machine according to established procedures.
- Keep the dish room clean, organized, and stocked throughout the shift.
- Follow all HACCP, food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention standards.
- Set up beverage carts with ice water and iced tea.
- Presoak, sort, and organize silverware for meal service.
- Assist with tray line preparation by stocking trays, napkins, wrapped silverware, lids, placemats, and menu cards.
- Stage meal trays for dietary staff during service.
- Sweep and mop kitchen and dish room floors.
- Empty trash and recycling containers and maintain a clean work environment.
- Assist with additional kitchen and dietary duties as assigned.
- Work cooperatively with dietary staff to ensure efficient meal service for patients and residents.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Basic math skills.

Additional Physical Requirements:
- Ability to push and pull loaded dish carts and supply carts.
- Ability to work in a warm, humid kitchen environment with exposure to water, steam, cleaning chemicals, and slippery surfaces.
- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Ability to safely operate commercial dishwashing equipment.
- Ability to follow established safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work is performed in a commercial healthcare kitchen with frequent exposure to hot equipment, steam, water, cleaning chemicals, food products, and wet or slippery floors. Employees are expected to follow all food safety, infection prevention, and workplace safety guidelines.
