Overview
We are seeking a passionate cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have experience in food service, especially with oysters and raw fish preperations along with a strong understanding of food safety practices but it is not necessary in order to apply for the job. As a Prep Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently, delivering high-quality dishes to our guests in a fine dining environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare raw bar items such as oysters, shrimp, and lobsters.
- Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper food storage practices.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, reporting any shortages to the kitchen manager.
- Participate in training new kitchen staff on food handling techniques and safety protocols.
- Uphold high standards of quality control, ensuring that every dish meets our presentation and taste criteria.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is preferred but not necessary.
- Previous experience with raw bar and oyster bar service is preferred but not necessary.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for food handling.
- Ability to prepare meals efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
- Experience in fine dining settings is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- A passion for cooking and a desire to continually improve culinary skills.
