Job Title: Sr. (Lead) Project Engineer (Composite Molding)

AGC / Garkenyon is looking for an experienced composite mold and tooling engineer to lead the design transfer of new development projects into production. We require an individual with extensive molding experience (injection / transfer / compression), who is comfortable in a high mix / low volume environment, can work cross functionally and help drive continuous improvement projects on the production floor.
Job Description:
- Lead design transfer of various composite mold development projects (injection / transfer / composite).
- Manage tool design and development to ensure all project deliverables are met or exceeded.
- Ensure manufacturability of new products during production transfer process. Assist with creation of work instructions, flow charts, PFMEA’s and product control plans.
- Engage with customers during development, ensuring timelines and project deliverables are met.
- Drive Lean principles and continuous improvement activities on production floor: improve processes, reduce waste, 5S.
- Develop detailed Work Instructions, compliant with product drawings and all specifications.
- Make MRB dispositions for discrepant materials and drive root cause analysis and resulting corrective actions.
- Create and update BOMS and routers.
- Experience in setting up and qualifying new CAPEX equipment.
- Provide engineering support to manufacturing processes for a variety of composite “build to print” products.
- Serve as leader and mentor on the production floor fostering a culture of continuous improvement, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety.
Requirements:
- BS or MS in Engineering with a minimum of (10) years of experience working in a dynamic high paced environment.
- 10 years’ experience in mold development (injection / transfer / compression)
- 10 years’ experience in tool design
- Must possess strong mechanical troubleshooting ability
- Demonstrated knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques.
- Experience with Solidworks or equivalent CAD software
- Experience with ERP systems. Epicor preferred.
- Must possess strong data capture and analysis capabilities.
- Must demonstrate good oral and written communication skills
- Must be flexible and adaptable to changes in priorities.
- Must be fluent in speaking and reading English.
- A basic knowledge of mechanics and a high mechanical aptitude are required to successfully perform the requirements of this role.
