Duties
- Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, and measuring to ensure timely meal assembly
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as portioning, plating, and garnishing dishes according to recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering strictly to food safety and sanitation protocols
- Support the cooking team by handling basic cooking tasks under supervision, including assembling salads, sandwiches, or side dishes
- Ensure proper food handling procedures are followed to prevent cross-contamination and ensure freshness
- Help with inventory management by rotating stock and notifying supervisors of low supplies or expired items
- Contribute to menu planning efforts by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation techniques
Requirements
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Hands-on experience with food preparation, cooking, or working in a restaurant or food industry setting is preferred
- Strong knife skills and familiarity with various cooking techniques are essential
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling practices is required
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
