In need of a reliable and punctual Child Care Assistant to care for and encourage the physical, intellectual, and psychological growth of the children in this well established licensed group daycare home.
- This position is only for PART TIME. Full time is NOT available and will NOT become available. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF LOOKING FOR FULL TIME WORK.
Working hours may be scheduled between 730am to 5pm Monday through Thursday and 730am to 430pm on Friday and are based on your availability and the needs of the daycare which at this time are approximately 15-20 hours per week.
This daycare has children currently enrolled between the ages of 1 to 6 years, but may take children between the ages of 6 weeks to 13 years.
This group daycare is in my home which includes my needy but lovable dog, & a puppy, so must like dogs.
Candidate/New Hire must be at least 21 years old (per DCFS) and able to:
- Provide at least 3 non-related references
- Pass Applicable fingerprinting and background checks (at no cost to you)
- Pass a health physical, including initial TB test, and show proof of DCFS required immunizations
- Immediately become CPR & First Aid certified (at no cost to you)
- Complete 15 hours of training per year, including mandatory trainings required by DCFS (at no cost to you)
- Be willing and able to pass a possible random drug test (at no cost to you)
This position has an hourly paid rate starting at $16.00/hr PLUS an added hourly differential of $1.25/hr for a combined starting rate of at least $17.25/hr. and more for experienced child care providers. (Currently the state of IL is providing differential hourly pay for childcare workers to guarantee a minimum wage of at least $17.25/hr.) This position allows for a flexible work schedule (with advanced notice) and also includes holiday pay and paid time off after 90 days. Future raises at 90 days and yearly will be based on reliability and performance.
Responsibilities include:
- Be on time for your scheduled work hours.
- Follow a schedule of activities
- Provide basic care and caregiving activities while always showing respect to the children and their caregivers
- Help prepare and serve meals/snacks
- Clean daycare areas
- Communicate positively with parents
- Observe children’s interactions and promote a spirit of concord
- Collaborate with other colleagues
- Adhere with teaching standards and safety regulations as established by official sources
Skills needed include:
- Patience, flexibility, and love for children
- Knowledge of child development and a willingness to learn and apply up-to-date education methods
- Strong communication, multitasking, and time management skill
