Description:
The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in supporting clinical operations within our medical spa and functional wellness practice. This position combines traditional clinical assisting responsibilities with patient-centered wellness support, aesthetic services assistance, and exceptional customer care. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, adaptable, and passionate about aesthetics, preventative health, and holistic wellness.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Prepare treatment rooms and patients for aesthetic, wellness, and medical procedures
- Assist licensed providers (MD/DO, NP, PA, RN) during aesthetic treatments, injections, laser procedures, IV therapy, and functional wellness visits
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, and consent forms
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen processing for laboratory testing (if certified)
- Administer injections, vaccines, or medications as permitted by state scope and training
- Ensure accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Aesthetic & Wellness Assistance
- Support services such as body contouring, laser treatments, facials, IV hydration, hormone therapy, weight management, and wellness consultations
- Educate patients on pre- and post-treatment care under provider direction
- Assist with product recommendations and patient education for skincare, supplements, and wellness plans
- Maintain treatment room readiness, equipment calibration, and supply inventory
Patient Experience & Customer Service
- Greet patients warmly and maintain a calm, professional environment
- Provide clear communication and compassionate support throughout the patient journey
- Address patient questions and concerns within scope, escalating clinical issues appropriately
- Support front desk workflows as needed (check-in, scheduling, follow-ups)
Safety, Compliance & Operations
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control, OSHA, HIPAA, and laser safety protocols
- Assist with quality assurance, safety checks, and incident reporting
- Clean, disinfect, and stock treatment areas per protocol
- Participate in ongoing training, competency assessments, and team meetings
Requirements:
Qualifications
- Medical Assistant certification or diploma from an accredited program (required)
- Current CPR/BLS certification (required)
- Phlebotomy certification preferred
- Prior experience in a medical spa, aesthetics, functional medicine, or wellness setting preferred
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills
- Professional appearance and commitment to patient confidentiality and safety
