Position Summary
The Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting providers in delivering high-quality patient care through clinical and administrative duties. This individual should be independent, organized, proactive, compassionate, and comfortable working with individuals experiencing mental health conditions.
Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain/update vital signs as clinically indicated
- Review medications, allergies, and pharmacy information
- Prepare patient charts prior to appointments
- Coordinate prescription refill requests
- Complete prior authorizations for medications
- Process laboratory orders and review incoming results with provider
- Answer patient phone calls and portal messages professionally
- Schedule appointments and maintain provider calendars
- Obtain outside medical records
- Assist with referrals and coordination of care
- Complete disability, FMLA, and other patient forms
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and accurate documentation
- Support office workflow and contribute to an exceptional patient experience
- Administer injections as needed
Qualifications
- Medical Assistant certification preferred
- Experience in psychiatry or primary care preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Familiarity with electronic health records
- Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail
- Compassionate, professional, and patient-centered
- Experience in outpatient psychiatry preferred, but not required
- Experience with or interest in advanced interventional psychiatric treatments, including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Spravato® (esketamine), is highly desirable. Pay: $23.51 - $28.32 per hour
