CPI Service is seeking an experienced Commercial Plumbing Field Superintendent to lead field operations on commercial plumbing projects throughout the Bay Area. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced superintendent who enjoys running projects independently and takes pride in delivering high-quality work.
We're looking for someone who doesn't just supervise a job—they own it. From project kickoff through final completion, you'll be responsible for coordinating field operations, leading crews, maintaining safety, solving problems, and ensuring every project reflects CPI's commitment to excellence.
This position can be structured as either Part-Time or 1099 Contract, depending on the candidate and project workload.
Position Overview
The Commercial Plumbing Field Superintendent is responsible for managing commercial plumbing construction projects in the field from beginning to end. This role provides leadership to field personnel, coordinates with project managers, customers, subcontractors, and inspectors, and ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership
- Take complete ownership of assigned commercial plumbing projects from mobilization through closeout.
- Plan daily and weekly field activities to ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Identify potential project risks and proactively develop solutions.
- Maintain accountability for quality, productivity, and schedule performance.
Field Supervision
- Lead plumbers, apprentices, and subcontractors in daily field operations.
- Assign work based on project priorities and technician strengths.
- Ensure installations comply with plans, specifications, plumbing codes, and CPI standards.
- Monitor productivity and continuously improve field efficiency.
- Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, and integrity.
Customer & Project Communication
- Serve as the primary field contact for owners, general contractors, inspectors, and other trades.
- Attend project meetings as required.
- Provide timely updates regarding schedule, manpower needs, change orders, and project challenges.
- Represent CPI Service professionally on every jobsite.
Safety & Quality
- Promote a culture where safety is the highest priority.
- Conduct jobsite safety meetings and enforce OSHA and company safety requirements.
- Perform quality control inspections throughout the project.
- Ensure all work meets or exceeds CPI quality standards before completion.
Training & Leadership
- Mentor apprentices and junior plumbers.
- Teach proper installation methods, safety procedures, and company standards.
- Foster a positive, professional work environment.
- Help implement new company procedures and best practices.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate daily reports.
- Document project progress, delays, inspections, and field changes.
- Assist Project Managers with RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
- Track manpower hours and production.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of commercial plumbing experience.
- Minimum 3 years supervising commercial plumbing projects.
- Strong understanding of commercial plumbing systems and California Plumbing Code.
- Experience reading blueprints, specifications, and coordinating with multiple trades.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Comfortable making decisions independently.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Proficient with smartphones, tablets, and basic construction software.
- OSHA 30 Certification preferred.
- Clean DMV record and valid California Driver's License.
- Must pass background check and drug screening.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Compensation
- Part-Time W-2 or 1099 Contract (based on candidate preference and experience)
- Competitive hourly or daily rate based on experience
- Flexible scheduling based on project workload
- Mileage or company vehicle (depending on assignment)
