Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable, motivated, and team-oriented Part-Time Caterer / Line Cook to support both daily kitchen operations and catering events. This position plays an important role in preparing quality food, maintaining excellent sanitation standards, and delivering outstanding customer service in a fast-paced and professional environment.
The ideal candidate enjoys working in hospitality, thrives in a collaborative setting, and takes pride in creating positive dining experiences for guests and clients. This role offers a variety of responsibilities including food preparation, event support, kitchen organization, and customer interaction.
Customer Service & Hospitality
- Provide friendly, professional, and attentive customer service to guests, clients, staff, and community members.
- Create a welcoming and positive experience for customers of all ages.
- Represent the organization professionally during catering events, restaurant operations, and community functions.
- Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a team-focused work environment.
Food Preparation & Kitchen Operations
- Prepare and cook menu items for restaurant service, catering events, buffets, and special functions.
- Assist with food preparation for weddings, corporate events, fundraisers, private parties, and community events.
- Follow recipes, portion standards, food presentation guidelines, and production schedules.
- Ensure food quality, consistency, and timely service during all operations.
- Safely operate kitchen equipment and maintain familiarity with standard cooking techniques and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Assist with inventory rotation, labeling, and proper food storage procedures.
Catering & Event Support
- Assist with catering setup, preparation, transportation, service, breakdown, and cleanup.
- Ensure catering items are packed, transported, and presented professionally and safely.
- Support smooth and organized event execution while maintaining efficiency and attention to detail.
- Help maintain high service standards during on-site and off-site catering functions.
Sanitation & Safety
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen, prep area, and workstation at all times.
- Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, catering equipment, and kitchen tools as needed.
- Follow all Wisconsin food safety regulations and organizational sanitation standards.
- Assist with daily, weekly, and deep-cleaning responsibilities.
- Properly handle cleaning chemicals and kitchen equipment according to safety guidelines.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, management, and event teams.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with coworkers, customers, and vendors.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
- Adapt to changing priorities and assist where needed during busy service periods or events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support kitchen and catering operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in restaurant, catering, hospitality, or food service preferred.
- Culinary training or related coursework is a plus.
- ServSafe Certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation methods, kitchen equipment, and sanitation practices.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule & Availability
- Part-time position averaging approximately 15–20 hours per week.
- Primarily daytime weekday hours, with occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.
- Flexibility to assist with catering events and seasonal functions preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background and sex offender registry check.
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in the workplace.
Work Environement
- Work is primarily performed in a commercial kitchen and catering environment.
- Position requires working near hot surfaces, kitchen equipment, refrigeration units, and cleaning chemicals.
- Fast-paced environment with time-sensitive responsibilities and multitasking requirements.
- Noise level is typically moderate to high during peak service and events.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Frequent bending, lifting, twisting, reaching, and carrying.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds safely.
- Ability to move catering supplies, food containers, carts, and kitchen equipment.
- Manual dexterity required for food preparation and kitchen operations.
