Overview
We are currently hiring for a full-time mechanic 8 hour shift, Monday-Friday (Saturday as needed). Job will entail preventative maintenance and repairs of all company equipment from 12 volt fuel transfer pumps to class 8 tanker trucks. We do all fleet repairs in house, from tires to engine overhauls and everything in between. We have a very well-kept fleet of Peterbilt and Kenworth tankers. Mechanic will inspect and repair trucks daily to comply with company policy and DOT compliance. Job will normally be inside a shop in Carpentersville with the occasional service call to repair a truck off site. Shop is kept clean and comfortable with heat and AC.

Responsibilities/Duties:
- Completes annual inspections on trucks.
- Perform safety inspections and preventive maintenance on truck fleet and shop equipment on a regular basis to ensure proper operating condition.
- Diagnose and repair all vehicles, trailers and truck fleet on a regular basis to ensure proper operating condition.
- Properly diagnose and install parts including brakes, driveline, suspension systems and oil changes.
- Install and repair tires, & truck lights, as needed during peak periods
- Troubleshoot equipment problems including electrical and mechanical concerns.
- Perform a variety of repairs including but not limited to, filter replacement, water pump and fuel injector replacement, engine tune-ups and driveshaft repairs.
- Meet all company and governmental safety operation requirements while servicing and repairing vehicles and equipment.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and ensure all repairs, inspections, & purchase orders are documented accurately.
- Perform other duties such as requested from time to time
Nice To Have (Not Required, But Preferred):
- Experience of diesel mechanic
- Experience of trailer/tanker experience
- Cummins engine experience a plus
- Peterbilt or Kenworth experience a plus
- Knowledge and experience with hydraulic systems is a plus
- Welding experience a plus (TIG and MIG, steel and aluminum)
- Any previous experience with fuel tanker trucks a huge plus
- Hold a CDL License or Commercial Learners Permit
- In lieu of experience the completion of an applicable technical/trade school will be recognized.
Must Have (Required):
- Must have own tools.
- Knowledge and/or experience of diesel mechanic.
- Knowledge and/or experience of air brakes and truck air systems.
- Basic knowledge of 12v truck systems (trouble shooting and repair)
- Basic knowledge of class 8 trucks
- Steel Toe boots required Day 1
