Duties
- Assist with intake assessments and develop individualized care plans tailored to each client’s needs.
- Support clients with daily activities, including behavior management, skill development, and social interaction exercises.
- Implement evidence-based behavior intervention techniques such as applied behavior analysis (ABA) to promote positive behaviors.
- Monitor vital signs, supervise medication administration as prescribed, and document medical information accurately within electronic medical records (EMR).
- Respond effectively to crisis situations using de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies to ensure safety for clients and staff.
- Collect data on client progress, behaviors, and treatment outcomes to inform ongoing care plans.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
Skills
- Knowledge of mental health conditions including PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), substance use disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Proficiency in crisis management, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques to handle challenging situations calmly and effectively.
- Ability to perform vital signs measurement, first aid, CPR certification, and basic medical procedures confidently.
- Strong communication skills for client interaction, social work support, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for managing electronic health records accurately and efficiently.
- Understanding of medical terminology, HIPAA compliance, and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special education needs is highly desirable.
- Capable of data collection, medical documentation, and supporting behavior management strategies aligned with applied behavior analysis (ABA).
