For nearly two decades, we’ve transformed recess into a time for growth, connection, and leadership through our Structured Recess, Physical Activity Workshops, and Student Leadership Programs.
As a Sports Coach, you’ll lead meaningful play experiences that promote teamwork, wellness, and social-emotional learning. This part-time role (25 hours per week) is ideal for individuals who love working with K–5 students and want to make a real impact by teaching life skills through movement — in both English and Spanish.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Structured Recess & Activities: Facilitate inclusive, high-energy games for K–5 students that foster collaboration, confidence, and fun.
- Create a Safe & Active Environment: Prepare and set up daily activity zones using HERO’s structured play model.
- Promote Social-Emotional Learning: Use play to reinforce communication, conflict resolution, empathy, and teamwork.
- Maintain Equipment: Care for play materials and ensure organized use during all activities.
- Support Student Leadership: Mentor and supervise student leaders as they take on responsibilities during recess and school events.
- Facilitate Physical Activity Workshops: Lead age-appropriate, engaging classes focused on movement, wellness, and character-building.
Bilingual Requirement:
Applicants must be fluent in both English and Spanish. Bilingual skills are essential for engaging with students and families in our diverse school communities.

- Are you able to commit to working throughout the school year from August 18, 2026 through June 10, 2027, excluding scheduled school holidays and breaks?
- Do you currently have any extended vacations, travel, or other planned commitments that would require you to miss multiple workdays between August 18, 2026 and June 10, 2027, outside of scheduled school holidays?
- Are you comfortable leading structured games, sports, and physical activities with elementary school students?
- If selected, are you willing and able to complete all required employment and school-site clearances, including fingerprinting/background check and mandated reporter training?
- Do you have a valid government-issued photo ID or driver’s license?
