Controls & Automation Engineer
Position Summary
We are seeking a Controls / Automation Engineer to support and improve automation systems within a discrete manufacturing environment. This role focuses on PLC programming, robotic systems, and production equipment including robot weld cells, brake presses, powder coat booths, and material handling systems. This is a hands-on role requiring strong troubleshooting skills and plant floor support to minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems
- Develop logic for auto/manual modes, fault handling, and sequencing
- Support robot weld cells and integrate robots with PLC systems
- Work with brake presses, powder coat systems, and conveyors
- Develop and improve HMI screens and alarms
- Read and troubleshoot electrical schematics
- Support safety systems (E-stops, light curtains, interlocks)
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement permanent fixes
- Support equipment upgrades and new installations
Qualifications
Required:
- PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
- Manufacturing environment experience
- Hands-on troubleshooting experience
- Ability to read electrical schematics
- Experience with industrial robots
Preferred:
- Robot weld cell experience
- Brake press, coating, or material handling experience
- HMI development experience
- Safety systems knowledge
- Commissioning experience

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
