Position Summary:
The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) is responsible for driving funnel expansion, new business growth, and market penetration for high-reliability interconnect, cable assemblies, and electronic solutions within an assigned territory. This role blends technical sales leadership, large account management, and channel engagement with focus on defense, medical, and other demanding application markets.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical acumen, a consultative sales approach, and proven experience managing complex sales cycles involving engineers, supply chain, quality, and executive stakeholders.
The North Central Region includes the following states: Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Kentucky, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Michigan. The ideal candidate would be found in one of the following cities: Cleveland, Chicago, Minneapolis, Indianapolis, or Ft. Wayne.
Key Responsibilities:
New Business Growth
- Drive funnel expansion and new business growth through direct customer engagement and partnership with distribution channel
- Develop and execute territory and account plans aligned with growth objectives
- Manage full sales cycle including opportunity identification, technical engagement, quotation, negotiation, and order closure
Technical Selling & Application Support
- Serve as the primary technical sales interface for customers in assigned territory
- Utilize technical resources to support customer engagement
- Understand customer applications, requirements, and compliance needs
- Collaborate with engineering to propose optimal connector and cable assembly solutions
Market Intelligence & Strategy
- Track competitive activity, pricing trends, and emerging technologies
- Provide feedback to product management on market needs and gaps
- Support new product launches and regional marketing initiatives
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering, operations, quality, customer service, and presales teams
- Ensure accurate forecasting through CRM utilization
- Support escalation and resolution of technical and commercial issues
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree, (engineering or other technical field strongly preferred)
- 5+ years of B2B technical sales experience in connectors, cable assemblies, or electromechanical components
- Proven success selling into high-reliability and technically demanding markets
- Strong technical acumen with good understanding of interconnect technologies
- Ability to travel as required to support the business, 50 – 60% within region
Preferred
- Experience selling high-reliability or harsh-environment interconnect solutions
- Familiarity with high-reliability interconnect product and industry standards
- Experience working with both direct OEMs and distribution channels
