POSITION SUMMARY:
The Welding Robot Operator sets up and operates ABB robotic welding equipment and related automated welding cells to produce metal components according to blueprints, work instructions, and quality standards. The operator loads and fixtures parts, selects approved programs, monitors welding cycles, inspects completed welds, makes authorized routine adjustments, and documents production results. This position works with Welding, Quality, Maintenance, and supervision to maintain safe, consistent, and efficient operation.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
·Maintains punctual attendance and notifies supervisors in advance of absences or tardiness
·Reviews blueprints, work instructions, and specifications; verifies the correct material, parts, fixtures, and revision before production
·Performs required pre-start safety and equipment checks and reports damaged guards, interlocks, fixtures, cables, or other unsafe conditions before operating the cell
·Loads, unloads, orients, and securely clamps components in fixtures using approved lifting and material-handling methods
·Selects the approved part program through the ABB controller or teach pendant and verifies the fixture, consumables, and authorized settings before starting the cycle
·Starts, stops, and monitors automated welding cycles for correct sequence, torch position, wire feed, shielding-gas flow, and equipment operation
·Remains outside the safeguarded area during automatic operation; never bypasses guards or interlocks and follows authorized entry and lockout/tagout procedures
·Inspects completed welds and part dimensions using approved visual criteria, gauges, and measuring tools; recognizes common weld defects and process variation
·Segregates and identifies nonconforming parts, notifies the supervisor or Quality, and follows approved rework or scrap instructions
·Makes only authorized routine adjustments, replaces approved consumables, and cleans torches, nozzles, sensors, and fixtures; escalates program, teach-point, or repair changes
·Performs manual tack welding or weld touch-up only when trained, qualified, and instructed to do so
·Reports alarms, collisions, irregular motion, equipment damage, or unsafe conditions immediately and assists troubleshooting without entering the cell unless locked out and authorized
·Complete all tasks promptly while maintaining quality and safety standards
·Accurately complete and submit daily production sheets to the supervisor
·Maintains a safe, compliant work environment by following OSHA and company standards and reporting hazards or maintenance needs to the supervisor. Complies with PPE requirements and participates in safety training, drills, and incident reporting
·Ensure that all prints remain with the correct parts throughout the process
·Contributes to team effort and completes other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous welding, machine-operation, or automated-equipment experience preferred; equivalent technical training may be considered
- Ability to read basic blueprints, welding symbols, work instructions, and measuring tools and to perform basic shop math
- Basic computer or controller skills and the ability to complete required training on the ABB robotic cell and assigned welding processes

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
