Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Night Nurse to provide high-quality patient care during overnight shifts in a dynamic healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will possess extensive nursing expertise, including experience with critical care, long-term care, and specialized medical procedures. As a Night Nurse, you will be responsible for ensuring patient safety, administering treatments, and supporting the health and well-being of diverse patient populations through comprehensive assessment and attentive care.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess patients’ vital signs, symptoms, and overall condition throughout the night shift to promptly identify changes requiring intervention.
- Administer medications, including injections and IV infusions, following prescribed protocols while maintaining strict aseptic techniques.
- Manage complex medical procedures such as wound suturing, catheterization, and ventilator management with precision and adherence to safety standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with acute or chronic conditions.
- Document all patient interactions, treatments, and observations accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth.
- Provide specialized care for patients with infectious diseases, memory impairments, or developmental disabilities, ensuring comfort and safety during overnight hours.
- Assist with emergency responses in trauma or Level I trauma center environments, applying advanced skills in airway management and acute pain control.
- Support discharge planning and coordinate post-acute or hospice care needs for patients transitioning from hospital settings or assisted living facilities.
Qualifications
- Valid nursing license with current registration; experience in hospital medicine or critical care settings preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex medical conditions such as cardiac catheterization recovery, dialysis, or ICU patient care.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Cerner or Athenahealth; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring memory or dementia care.
- Skills in performing sterile procedures such as phlebotomy, specimen collection, and aseptic technique during invasive interventions.
- Ability to work independently during night shifts while maintaining high standards of patient safety and confidentiality under HIPAA regulations.
