Description:
Guest Experience Coordinators are responsible for ensuring that every guest enjoys an exceptional, engaging, and safe experience when visiting the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center. Coordinators serve as operational leaders on the museum floor by supporting daily guest experiences, assisting staff and volunteers, maintaining exhibit and facility readiness, and helping ensure smooth day-to-day operations throughout the museum.
In addition to supporting daily operations, each Guest Experience Coordinator may take ownership of a specific operational area or system within the museum. Ownership areas help strengthen organizational efficiency, accountability, staff collaboration, and operational consistency across departments.
The part-time Guest Experience Coordinator provides support on weekends, with shifts scheduled based on both the museum’s needs and the coordinator’s availability. This flexible scheduling allows coordinators to rotate shifts and support operational needs throughout the museum.
Responsibilities:
Guest Experience & Daily Operations
- Assist in leading a diverse staff and ensure the delivery of superior guest experiences throughout the Museum from open to close.
- Individually interact with Guests to meet their needs and learn how to improve the museum experience in the future.
- Address and communicate regarding issues that arise from Guest concerns.
- Ensure daily operational tasks, including safety and preparation checklists and appropriate supply stock, are completed by guest-facing staff.
- Follow all internal protocols for opening and closing the museum, including rentals and special events. This includes, but is not limited to, cash-handling procedures, daily verification of floor staffing, and supply readiness.
Exhibit & Facility Oversight
- Ensure the safety of all employees and Guests by overseeing the daily operation of exhibits, including verification of safety checklists and cleaning/disinfection procedures throughout operational hours.
- Ensure all exhibits (indoor and outdoor) and guest-facing areas, including facilities, are clean, reset, appropriately stocked, functioning correctly, and safe.
- Communicate the condition of the Museum and its exhibits to appropriate staff to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Oversee rotations of thematic exhibits.
- Assist with all aspects of traveling exhibitions.
Operational Ownership Areas
- Take ownership of assigned operational areas, systems, or projects within the museum.
- Maintain organization, communication, follow-through, and operational consistency within assigned ownership areas.
- Help identify opportunities for operational improvements and communicate recommendations to leadership.
- Collaborate with leadership and team members to support efficient museum operations.
- Assist in maintaining resources, inventories, procedures, and organizational systems related to assigned ownership areas

- Cash handling experience.
- Commitment to the mission and vision of the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.

Position Conditions:
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk and move for extended periods of time both indoors and outdoors while presenting a positive guest experience.
