Purpose: The Facility Assistant works with the Facilities Manager to tend to the church building and grounds, including the parking lot.
Accountability: The Facility Assistant is accountable to the Pastor/Head of Staff, the Building & Grounds Committee, and the Personnel Committee. The work will be supervised by the Facilities Manager.
Evaluation: The Facility Assistant will be evaluated annually by Facilities Manager and the Personnel Committee with input from the Building & Grounds Committee.
Hours: An average of 15 hours per week with hopes to increase to 20 hours per week.
Desirable qualifications and characteristics:
The Facility Assistant will demonstrate the following:
· Ability to use groundskeeping tools and equipment appropriately and safely
· Ability to care for inside of the building
· Ability to use proper cleaning chemicals
· Time management and attention to detail
· Physical ability to move and set up tables and chairs
· Proactive care of flora and asphalt with attention to safety.
· Good communication with supervisor and visitors to the premises.
· Knowledge of landscaping such as differentiating between weeds and desired plants, identifying when plants need to be watered or pruned.
· An understanding that different seasons of the years require a flex of indoor/outdoor duties.
Responsibilities: The Facility Assistant is responsible for the following:
- Tends the church parking lot and grounds, to include but not limited to: cutting grass, trimming trees and bushes, blowing off the parking lot, removing fallen leaves and needles, weeding, removing trash from the grounds, and removing and planting flora as directed.
- Keeping up with the needs of the inside of the building including: garbage/recycling, vacuuming, bathrooms, floor mopping, cleaning toilets
- Set up and break down of rooms
- Cares for tools and equipment, notifying the Facilities Manager when equipment is low on fuel or exhibiting any issues.
- Assists with snow removal, and other tasks as needed.
- Preferred but not required availability on Sundays from 8am-1pm
Additional Information: Compensation is set at $19/hour.
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
