This position does not provide a telework option. Candidate must be willing to work on-site in Patuxent River, MD.

Primary Responsibilities:
Provide Engineering Support (Data Processing & Storage Subject Matter Expert (SME)) for an advance research and development program. The candidate will support and provide insight to determine the effectiveness of program execution and recommend processes for activities or design reviews. They will monitor, assess, and report to leadership on alignment between government and industry on technical matters. The candidate will work with program management and team leads to develop out-year planning for future requirements/capabilities, and provide input to roadmaps for analysis, risk reduction, and integration of capabilities. They will serve as a focal point for coordination of technical program status and execution throughout the design, engineering, integration, test, and program execution process.
Other responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Preparing, maintaining, and presenting briefing materials.

Serving as a SME for program technical execution, coordination, risk identification, and communication of concerns and issues to program management, resource sponsor, and technical leadership. Coordinating and conducting boards, working groups, and reviews.

Supporting the development of acquisition and technical documentation including statements of work, specifications and test plans. Generating and maintaining discipline specific plans, trackers, reports, and briefing packages.

Coordinating with program teams to integrate new capabilities, deriving requirements, and supporting development of program descriptions, specifications, integrated roadmaps, and detailed schedules.

Analyzing manufacturers’ proposals as permitted by law and regulation.

Developing, executing, monitoring, and reporting status on program efforts, including trade studies, operational comparisons, appraisals of architecture designs and performance, analysis of test data, and identified Risks, Issues, and Opportunities (RIO).

Supporting behavioral requirements development, decomposition, and tailoring; preliminary and detailed design, design analysis, trade studies, and reviews.

Supporting engineering requirements verification and validation planning and support; hardware and software engineering investigations, rout cause analysis, and correction of deficiencies; hardware and software skill development, testing, and release.

Supporting mission effectiveness modeling and simulation and data analysis; technical performance monitoring, analysis/analytics, and guidance; system/subsystem qualification and certification support; uncertainty identification and burn down.

Observe on-equipment maintenance and attend flight briefs/debriefs.

Supporting and coordinating technical reviews, data analysis and reports, and monitoring and reporting team status/execution.

Reviewing, assessing, and evaluating systems engineering solutions across the weapons system.

Coordinating functions between government and manufacturers(s) leads and engineers along with the operational SMEs, warfighters, and program leadership.
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
Desired Experience:

Requirements development, design, development, and systems engineering principles. Environmental engineering for flight qualified hardware.

Knowledge and experience in acquisition engineering support of mission compute/mission processing and data storage devices for airborne platforms.

Understanding of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) including Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) or VMEbus International Trade Association (VITA) standards.

Military and aerospace communications protocols such as MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, high-speed Ethernet (10/40/100GbE) and PCle.

Knowledge of circuit board standards such as PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) and processing technologies such as Central Processing Unit (CPU), Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA).

Deriving compute/processing resource allocations.
-
Assessing compute/processing resource utilization.
-
Knowledge of data security and cryptography requirements and certifications.

Knowledge of Multi-Level Security (MLS) Architectures.

Candidate should be proficient in all Microsoft Office (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and have experience with Adobe Acrobat and share point style file sharing systems.

Candidate should have demonstrated outstanding oral and written communication skills.

Candidate should have experience working in a dynamic, schedule constrained, and complex security environment. Special Access Program experience is a plus.
