Senior Tax Accountant
Location: St. Johns, MI and East Lansing, MI

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced CPA or EA to join our growing public accounting firm. This position is best suited for someone with strong tax preparation experience, especially with individuals and small businesses, who can work independently and communicate well with clients.
The ideal candidate will have 5–15 years of public accounting experience, strong technical tax knowledge, and the ability to manage client work from start to finish with accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review individual and business tax returns
- Work with small business clients, including S corporations and partnerships
- Assist with fiduciary/trust tax returns, or be willing to learn
- Help resolve IRS and state tax notices and issues
- Communicate directly with clients regarding tax matters, document requests, and follow-up questions
- Support payroll reporting needs as applicable
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience preparing individual and small business tax returns
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Willingness to work from both the St Johns and East Lansing offices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CCH ProSystem fx, or ability and willingness to learn it
- Knowledge of QuickBooks and/or QuickBooks Online
- Some payroll reporting experience
- Experience assisting with IRS or state tax agency issues
