About the Role
ReMedi Health Solutions is engaging Clinical EHR Data Abstractors to support large-scale clinical chart abstraction and EHR data migration projects. Abstractors extract clinical information from EHR documentation into structured formats using defined project rules and SOPs, working within a pod structure with a dedicated QA Lead and daily quality feedback.
This is a 1099 independent contractor engagement, fully remote, compensated on a per-chart basis tied to quality standards. Ideal candidates are detail-driven, consistent, and comfortable in a process-driven production environment where accuracy and data quality are measured daily.
Key Responsibilities
- Abstract clinical data from EHR documentation into designated tools and templates following project SOPs and abstraction rules
- Validate your own work for accuracy, completeness, and consistency before submission; catch errors early and minimize rework
- Complete assigned worklists and ensure all required fields are populated correctly
- Identify, document, and escalate issues through the defined escalation pathway
- Communicate questions, updates, and progress daily via Microsoft Teams
- Maintain strict HIPAA/PHI compliance at all times
Minimum Requirements for remote work:
- Willing and able to work as a 1099 independent contractor (this is not a W-2 position)
- Your own computer meeting project security requirements, with a dual monitor setup. ReMedi does not provide equipment
- A private, HIPAA-compliant workspace (no public or shared spaces; PHI protected from unauthorized viewing at all times)
- Reliable high-speed internet
- Availability of at least 20 hours per week for the duration of the project
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of professional experience in data entry, healthcare IT, health information management, or another accuracy-driven, process-driven role
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong medical terminology; comfortable interpreting clinical documentation (medications, problem lists, allergies, immunizations, histories)
- Intermediate Excel skills (sorting, filtering, basic formulas, data cleanup)
- Comfortable performing data quality checks and validating extracted data
- Clear, timely, professional written and verbal communication; responsive on Microsoft Teams during your working window
Preferred
- Experience with common EHR systems (Epic, Cerner/Oracle Health, MEDITECH, Athena, eClinicalWorks, NextGen)
- Prior chart abstraction, data migration, clinical documentation review, or QA/QC experience
- Experience working from SOPs and rubrics in a structured production environment
