Job Overview
We are seeking a Manufacturing Technician II to support the development, production, quality, and continuous improvement of advanced aerospace and space hardware. This role will work closely with engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality, facilities, and maintenance teams to fabricate, assemble, test, and validate mechanical and electrical hardware in accordance with engineering drawings, procedures, quality standards, and established manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble, inspect, and validate mechanical and electrical flight hardware and associated ground support equipment.
- Perform mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, cable and harness work, and related manufacturing activities.
- Follow engineering drawings, work instructions, manufacturing procedures, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Support engineers with prototype and flight hardware fabrication, testing, tooling, and test infrastructure development.
- Assist with documenting assembly processes, test procedures, manufacturing activities, and process improvements.
- Identify, document, and communicate non-conformances to Engineering and Quality teams.
- Work with Facilities and Maintenance to ensure manufacturing equipment is properly maintained and repaired.
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to improve manufacturing processes, work orders, and production instructions.
- Operate a variety of mechanical and electrical manufacturing equipment following appropriate training and safety procedures.
- Use hand and power tools such as crimpers, drills, taps, torque wrenches, power tools, and air tools.
- Work with adhesives, cleaning agents, coatings, and other materials commonly used in aerospace manufacturing while following applicable safety procedures.
- Support continuous improvement activities focused on product quality, manufacturing efficiency, safety, and process reliability.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe manufacturing work area.
- Travel locally to vendors or suppliers as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education with additional technical or vocational training.
- 2+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing or a closely related manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on fabrication skills.
- General shop and manufacturing experience.
- Ability to interpret and follow detailed drawings, diagrams, procedures, and work instructions.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities, and Maintenance teams.
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM, with occasional extended hours or weekends to support production and shipping requirements.
- Must be authorized to work on applicable export-controlled hardware in accordance with U.S. regulations.
Preferred Skills
- Experience assembling aerospace, electrical, mechanical, or flight hardware.
- Experience working with cables, wire harnesses, electrical assemblies, or power distribution hardware.
- Experience using precision hand and power tools.
- Experience with crimping, drilling, tapping, torqueing, and mechanical fastening.
- Familiarity with manufacturing quality systems and non-conformance processes.
- Experience working from engineering drawings and detailed manufacturing procedures.
- Experience working with adhesives, coatings, chemical cleaners, and other manufacturing materials.
- Experience supporting prototype, development, or production hardware.
- Ability to learn new manufacturing equipment, processes, tools, and procedures quickly.
